Boost Your Immunity

At this time of year, children are coming home from school with yet another cold, and it is the start of party season, and late nights! So, good nutrition is more important than ever. Food provides all the nutrients we need, and the right combinations can give your immune system a real head start.

When choosing what to eat, look out for some ingredients which will boost your immunity and energy levels during winter days and nights.

5 Immunity-Boosting Foods

1 Yoghurt. Natural full-fat yoghurt is a natural probiotic, which contains good bacteria. This can really help improve your immune response, while also aiding digestion, so they are a great way to start the day.

2 Salmon. As well as being packed full of healthy omegas, Salmon is also a good way of getting your Vitamin D. This vitamin can help the immune system do its job and fight free radicals in the body.

3 Fruits, such as oranges and apples, are full of vitamins and nutrients. They are also full of soluble fibre, which helps fights inflammation in the body.

4 Garlic is a wonder-food. It increases the production of good white blood cells, which fight off infections within the body.

5 Chicken Soup is an age-old remedy for colds and flu. Chicken has a long list of health benefits, due to its high protein content, and numerous vitamins and minerals. Chicken is high in Vitamin Bs which is an immunity powerhouse.

To boost your immunity, try to pack as many of these foods into your day; yoghurt and fruit for breakfast, smoked salmon for lunch, and garlic chicken with broccoli for supper.
